The Where to buy Effect

Practical Sales Training™ > How to connect with your buyer > The Where to buy Effect

What is it?

Literally telling people where they can buy can be an important part of your messaging strategy.

Why does it work?

It works because not everyone is clear on where they can buy your offering, so it makes sense to point it out to them as clearly as possible.

How can you use it?

To make this work, you simply need to list out the places where people can buy your offering in your advertising/marketing/website.

The possibles are:

  • Instore
  • Online
  • On App
  • At xxx retailer
  • At xxx location
  • At xxx event

Hypothetical Example:

A local bakery launches a new range of handmade chocolates but notices that many customers admire them on social media without making a purchase. When asked, several people say, “I didn’t realise you sell them online!”

The bakery updates its messaging to say:

“Order our handmade chocolates online, pick up in-store, or grab them at our stall every Saturday at the farmer’s market.”

By explicitly telling people where and how to buy, sales immediately increase because buyers no longer have to guess or ask.
