What is it?

We are more likely to notice things that move than things that don’t. This is why we notice things like flashing signs or animated logos.

Why does it work?

It works because our caveman brain is wired to notice things which are a potential threat. Anything that doesn’t match its environment or anything that is in motion is a potential threat and thus it draws our attention.

How can you use it?

From animating your logo to having flashing signage or using videos on social media – how can you make your message move?

Hypothetical Example:

A coffee shop installs a digital menu board where the daily specials slide in and out of view every few seconds. Compared to a static chalkboard, customers’ eyes are naturally drawn to the moving text and animations.

Similarly, an online clothing store uses a subtle looping animation on their “Shop Now” button, like a gentle pulse. This makes it stand out more than a static button and encourages clicks.
