What is it?

An Homophone occurs when two different words have the same sound.

Why does it work?

It works because it makes the reader/listener think. They have two words that sound the same, but have different meanings and, as such, they need to decipher the meaning and can’t easily skim past.

How can you use it?

It can be used to create playful puns and phrases that are designed to make you think.

Examples

Here are some homophones with varying levels of cheesiness…

  • Food & Beverage: “Our steaks are a rare treat – well done every time.”

  • Real Estate: “We’ll help you find your home sweet home, not roam alone.”

  • Fitness: “We’ll help you weigh less while valuing your way of life.”

  • Finance: “We’ll help you make sense of your cents.”

  • Travel: “Sea the world with us – your adventure awaits.”

  • Fashion: “Sole mates for your feet – shoes you’ll love.”

  • Tech: “Byte into the future with smarter solutions.”

  • Education: “Right from the start, we’ll help you write your success story.”

  • Automotive: “Driven to meet your needs, wherever the road leads.”

  • Beauty & Wellness: “Nail your look and feel a cut above.”
